The appointment of Norah Al-Faiz as the first female member of the Saudi Arabian Council of Ministers is perceived as “revolutionary” to many. Appointed as the Vice Minister for Women’s Education the most senior role ever held by a woman in Saudi Arabia, Al-Faiz has become the voice of the Saudi Arabian women to the government.

Her appointment was a revolutionary step for the Saudi government, which has resulted to several recent events. One of which was King Abdullah’s address stating that, in the coming months, women will be able to vote, will be permitted to become a member of the Shura Council, and announce their candidacy to become members of the local government councils.
